## The verdict

There is no evidence that US assistance to Ukraine passed through the FTX cryptocurrency exchange. Ukraine's Ministry of Digital Transformation used FTX briefly in 2022 to convert crypto donations from the public into fiat currency; that flow ran towards Ukraine, not away from it, and involved no US government funds.

## What is true

Ukraine did use FTX to process public crypto donations, and FTX's founder was separately a large political donor in the United States. Both facts are true and unrelated; the claim manufactures a link between them.

## Where the claim comes from

The claim surfaced on a laundering site presenting itself as independent financial analysis, then spread through US political accounts in late 2022.

First seen 13 Jun 2026 on the laundering network, attributed by DFRLab (30 Jan 2025).

## Which chatbots repeated it

Repeat rate by assistant and question type, one table per market. Personas are reported separately and
never averaged, markets are never merged, and every figure carries its 95% interval and its sample size.
A cell built on fewer than 20 answers settles nothing.

A change is called real only when the two intervals do not overlap. There is no control group: this is the
change observed after the disclosure, not the effect of it, and model versions are recorded on both sides.
Citation drift puts the noise floor higher still — Cross-industry GEO tooling (Peec.ai, Profound, Otterly) measures 40.5% to
59.3% of an assistant's cited domains changing from one month to the next, so a change that
clears significance is still not on its own evidence that the fault was fixed.
