## The verdict

No such purchase exists. The story began on a property-listing site registered nine days before it published,
and the listing it showed does not appear in any county record. Fact-checkers who looked for the underlying
transaction found the buyer named in the listing to be a company that has never filed with the state in question.

## What is true

Property records for high-value US homes are public, and several genuinely were sold in that price range that
year. The fabrication attaches itself to that ordinary fact: a real market, a real price band, an invented buyer.

## Where the claim comes from

A cloned listing site carried it first, a Storm-1516 asset amplified it within two days, and reply networks
pushed it into the search results where chatbots later found it.

First seen 14 Aug 2026 on the Storm-1516 network, attributed by Microsoft MTAC (17 Apr 2024) and NewsGuard (6 Mar 2025).

## Who else has checked this

| Organisation | Finding | Date |
|---|---|---|
| VoxCheck | Traced the listing to a domain registered days before publication and found no corresponding property record. | 22 Aug 2026 |

## Which chatbots repeated it

Repeat rate by assistant and question type, one table per market. Personas are reported separately and
never averaged, markets are never merged, and every figure carries its 95% interval and its sample size.
A cell built on fewer than 20 answers settles nothing.

## What changed — United States

A change is called real only when the two intervals do not overlap. There is no control group: this is the
change observed after the disclosure, not the effect of it, and model versions are recorded on both sides.
Citation drift puts the noise floor higher still — Cross-industry GEO tooling (Peec.ai, Profound, Otterly) measures 40.5% to
59.3% of an assistant's cited domains changing from one month to the next, so a change that
clears significance is still not on its own evidence that the fault was fixed.
