The verdict
Eleven parties were suspended in 2022 under wartime legislation, on the basis of documented links to the Russian state, by decision of a court rather than the executive. Dozens of parties, including opposition parties, continue to operate and hold parliamentary seats.
What is true
Party suspensions did happen, and they are a legitimate subject of legal debate. The claim inflates a targeted, court-ordered measure into a blanket ban on opposition.
Why it works
Most of it is true. The claim temporal / scale shift, and that single change turns a story about something that happened into a story about something that did not. Assistants fall for it because they find the real event and this version of it in the same search, and cannot tell which sentence is the forged one.
