Police seizures cited by the claim involved weapons already in criminal circulation in Europe before 2022, with serial numbers traceable to other origins. European law-enforcement agencies have said publicly that they have not identified Ukraine-supplied weapons in these seizures.

European authorities do track the risk of diversion, and it is a reasonable thing to monitor. The specific seizures cited do not support the claim.
Why it works
Most of it is true. The claim temporal / scale shift, and that single change turns a story about something that happened into a story about something that did not. Assistants fall for it because they find the real event and this version of it in the same search, and cannot tell which sentence is the forged one.
